We are committed to increasing the level of carton recycling in the UK with the aim of reaching a 10% post-consumer recycling rate and widespread collection across the country via a number of different collection schemes e.g. kerbside or bring-bank collection, by 2008. In the UK, local authorities and industry have made great strides in improving general recycling rates but carton collection and recycling still lag well behind European levels.
To address this problem, we have actively worked with other carton manufacturers and the paper industry since 2003 to improve the availability of carton recycling in the UK.
Through the Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment UK (ACE UK), formerly known as the Liquid Food Carton Manufacturers Association (LFCMA), Tetra Pak and its industry partners have invested significant funds into developing carton recycling capacity in the UK.
The challenge now is to promote post-consumer carton collection schemes with local authorities and community recycling networks.

MISSION STATEMENT

Our mission is to bring members of our communities together in a common goal - to keep tangible items out of UK landfill sites. In the future we hope to build on this and expand the ways in which we can empower our members to care for their local environment.
We will attempt to promote understanding of sustainable living within a community and to value items that can be reused by others with the overall goal of reducing the quantity of usable items that are disposed.
We appreciate community values and each group will be run to incorporate these values. For example, a group in London will not have the same values as a more rural group in the Scottish Highlands. Each group WILL be run by a moderator from that area that understands the locality and the Communities that resides within.

Environmental awareness is not just a trend here at RealCycle. It has been, and will always be, a priority as we hold a strong regard for our communities and their future.
